April 3, 2024 is primatologist and activist Dr. Jane Goodall’s 90th birthday. We’re celebrating her indomitable spirit and persistent actions and advocacy for the health of the planet and its people with this 2017 video, a summary of her story, activism, community building, and the scientific discoveries that started it all.

This includes her groundbreaking revelation that chimpanzees can use tools. This and her observations of them exhibiting complex social behaviors and emotions challenged the prevailing scientific understanding of non-human animals at the time.
